PREVENTS Initiative: The President signed an executive order on Tuesday dubbed the President’s Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End a National Tragedy of Suicide, or PREVENTS. This initiative is aimed at focusing efforts on preventing veteran suicide, and includes new community outreach grants. Keep your eyes peeled on this one. Article on Military Times with more detail.

The Heart and Armor Foundation, created by singer John Mayer, “plans to focus on veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and meeting the emerging needs of women veterans.” It’s not just some publicity stunt, either – he’s been working alongside veterans, clinicians, and scientists on this endeavor since 2012. New Post 9/11 Deck of 52, featuring businesses and charities that have been launched by the military community. Limited Edition collector’s decks will be available for purchase March 27. Learn more about the project and the featured organizations.

National Desert Storm veterans memorial is one step closer to becoming reality. A site dedication ceremony took place late last month. More info on ConnectingVets.Radio.com

First NCW Vets Social of 2019 was great. 6 folks came out to chat and generally chill out while still making valuable connections and sharing information about upcoming endeavors. Looking forward to more in June.

Thurs, 3/14: Chelan County VSO Outreach in Chelan at the Apple Cup Cafe, 9am – noon; American Legion Post 10 (Wenatchee) monthly meetings, 7pm
Fri, 3/15: American Legion Centennial Dinner (Post 10, 6pm); Bingo at VFW Post 3617 (East Wenatchee), 6:30pm
Sat, 3/16: Corned Beef & Cabbage Feed at VFW Post 3617, 3pm

Thurs, 21 March: Chelan/Douglas Job & Resource Fair – 10am-1pm, Pybus Public Market, Wenatchee
Spring job and resource fair co-hosted by VFW Post 3617 and WorkSource. A great chance to land a new job. Come dressed to impress, with resume in handy, ready to apply. As usual, veterans get priority service, and our employers on hand are looking for folks like you. The Spokane VA Mobile Vet Center will be on site, as well.

Monday, 1 April: Vets Gazette Issue 2 release
The next issue of the Vets Gazette is no joke. Covering April and May, it’ll be chock full with Memorial Day events from around the region. If you want to be included, contact me today. If you want to make sure and get it in your email inbox, be sure to subscribe.

Hosted by WorkSource Okanogan and Colville Tribes Veteran Services. A great chance to land a new job. Come dressed to impress, with resume in handy, ready to apply.

Saturday, 27 April: WWII-themed Community Dance – 6pm, Quincy Community Center
Help celebrate the launch of a new non-profit, Operation Creation. Dinner, entertainment by the Pin Ups On Tour, and open dancing. There’s also a contest for Best Dressed, so come in your best 1940s attire. Event on Facebook
