What happened to the Weekly Brief?

You may have noticed that the brief roundup of news, events, and tidbits that was posted here on a weekly basis seems to have disappeared, a while ago actually. Apologies for that and for my extended absence in posting content at NCW Veterans Info.

Over the course of the past few years, with COVID directly affecting how events were hosted, how people networked, and how we now live our lives, the format of that weekly post doesn’t seem to hold up now.

In that time, I have also personally detached a lot more, including from social media (a primary source for much of what I shared). As such, I am less immediately aware of upcoming events, especially if I don’t get an email or newsletter mentioning it.

Because of this, I’m going to revert to a more relaxed content update process, simply aiming for at least one new article posted here on the website each week, whether it be about an event, a discount I recently discovered, a new program for veterans in the region, or just some other interesting news I came across. As always, I also welcome story submissions – send me news from your organization and I’ll make sure it gets added. You can see some of these types of posts in the Post Pride category.

Some of you may even still get notifications about these new posts in your email – it seems some of the systems I established years ago still work. If you aren’t getting a weekly message about new blog posts, be sure to use the sign-up form at the top of the News page or in the sidebar when viewing a single blog post. It is a double opt in process, so be sure to check your inbox to click the link and complete the sign-up.

All of this being said, keep an eye on the website as I get back to it. This winter will include some resource and event listing reviews, some content updates, and maybe even some design updates.
