Cadet 1st Lt Emmanuel Larson was promoted to the rank of Cadet Captain and was also awarded the Amelia Earhart Award. This promotion and award presentation was conducted by Air Force ROTC Recruiter Captain Wesley Griffith on Oct 29th. The Pangborn Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol had an Awards Banquet on Aug 6th at the Masonic Center in Wenatchee. Special guests included Commissioner Kevin Overbay and his wife Crystal, 12th District Representative Keith Goehner, and Washington Wing Vice Commander, Lt. Col Kenneth Butler. 5th Annual Biddle Foundation SOAR Ride

The Thomas A Biddle Foundation provides resources and support for families left behind after PTSD Veteran suicide. Each year. they host a fundraiser that combines a dinner and auction, and a motorcycle ride the next day after breakfast, hosted by a local American Legion post. VFW Post 3617 Pangborn Flag Detail

Douglas County Commissioners, Washington Trust representatives, and the Color Guard from Wenatchee Valley VFW Post 3617 gathered August 27th at the Pangborn traffic circle in East Wenatchee to install a new 20’ x 30’ flag. The flag was provided by Washington Trust Bank. Post 3617 volunteers have adopted the duties of lowering and raising the flag for commemorative events (previously handled by Douglas County facilities department).

Our local Civil Air Patrol – Pangborn Composite Squadron

The Pangborn Composite Squadron is part of the Civil Air Patrol, handled by Senior members of the United States Air Force Auxiliary. This squadron was first formed in January of 1942, approximately 77 years ago here in the Wenatchee Valley, part of the U.S. Army Air Corps. They performed tasks such as supply airlifts, VIP transports, sea rescues, and hunting submarines off the Eastern coastline. Memorial Day Around the Region

“Our guys start at 6am placing these flags at the Brewster Cemetery and then visit 4 towns cemeteries to honor the Veterans at each one. They come back to the [American Legion] Post 97 and have a color/arms presentation in front of the memorial there. The day is finished by taking down all the flags, folding and storing for next year.”
