Civil Air Patrol updates – March 2021

Cadet Lt Col Emmanuel Larsen, of Waterville Washington, received the Cadet Officer of the Year Award from Dick Winn, Commander of American Legion Post 10 in Wenatchee on the 23rd of March at the Washington National Guard Armory in Wenatchee.

Cadet Lt. Col Larsen joined the Cadet Program in 2016 and has reached the second highest Cadet rank in the program. Cadet Lt Col Larsen has also received during his time in the program, the Air Force Organization Ribbon, the Achievement Award, General Ira Eaker Ribbon, General Billy Mitchell Ribbon, the Non-Commissioned Officer and Officer Awards for his Outstanding Leadership from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3617 Wenatchee Valley.

On the 6th of April, Major General Mike Worden (USAF Ret) will present to Cadet Lt Col Emmanuel Larsen the General Ira Eaker Award for Leadership. Cadet Larsen earned this award for his promotion to the rank of Cadet Lt. Col.

Pangborn also has had 6 Cadets take their first power flights. One cadet who wasn’t sure she wanted to fly, returned after her 40-minute flight saying, “it was better than sports.” The Squadron resumed our Orientation flights for new cadets in February and had a second flight on the 13th of March. Another 3 new cadets will be flying on the 10th of April if weather hold true.

It’s good to be back in person again. The Squadron is planning a trip to the Aerospace Flight Museum in Seattle this coming May.
