American Legion Post #84 sends our sincere gratitude to those volunteers who helped us show respect and love to all our comrades who have gone before. Kiki and Ruth Allen, Odin and Tabitha Finsen-Allen, Lou Wilson, Ken and Teri Tripp, Sadie Scott, Armando Moralez, Rick Hamilton and the members of the FFA, Kurt and Dana Brownlee, Dale and Kirsten Birch, and Mike Marthaller. You all did an amazing job and we really appreciate the extra hands!
On Wednesday, May 26th, Rick Hamilton and some of his FFA kids joined AL Post 84 officers Lou Wilson, Armando Moralez, Ken Tripp and his wife Teri to clean up headstones and edge the grass at Riverview cemetery.
On Friday, May 28th, Post, Auxiliary, and community members came out to place over 400 flags from several countries, as well as crosses and Stars of David as the veteran preferred, on the graves of Veterans.
Monday, May 31st, we had a ceremony at the cemetery that was open to the public followed by laying flowers on the Similkameen river in the Naval tradition, while Taps played. We left the flags up until Tuesday, June 1st, when a couple of Legionnaires went to collect them.
