The Columbia American Legion in Brewster is actively involved with the community, often hosting yard sales and meals.

Membership in the American Legion is based on honorable service with the U. S. Armed Forces, at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941, either still actively serving or with an Honorable discharge.
