What is this all about?
NCW Veterans serves to connect veterans and the resources available to them throughout the central part of Washington state, specifically in Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas, and Grant counties.
Connie Hill was serving as the Vet Corps Navigator at Wenatchee Valley College in 2015 when she discovered that the services were available, but often disconnected from each other. The networks didn’t always overlap and interconnect. Having recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Connie decided to put her skills to the test in a way that would be beneficial to everyone. And so, North Central Washington Veterans Info was born.
During her time with Vet Corps and beyond, Connie has been diligently working to gather the information and redistribute it as needed. Thanks to generous donations from Vets Serving Vets (The Bunker) and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3617, by Nov 2016 the website was live and running.
In an effort to expand the reach and relevancy of this website, Connie began publishing and distributing the Vets Gazette in early 2019. Originally released as a print edition provided for free at various locations around the Wenatchee Valley and via email to the more remote Posts, it is now available digitally for all.
In October 2020, the website underwent a redesign with better search functions, mapping, and mobile usability built in, with lots of room to grow beyond what you see today. If you have anything to add to the site, be it resource, event, or discount, please do not hesitate to use the contact form. Connie welcomes all input, and will be sure to get back to you within 72 hours. News Stories can be submitted on this separate form.
How can I help?
As mentioned, if you have anything to add to the site, or you see something that is incorrect, please contact Connie with as much detail as possible and she’ll be sure to get it updated.
Keeping a website like this up and running isn’t easy, though. Annual costs for the site are approximately $300-$400, not including the unpaid time Connie spends working on it and marketing for it, as well as networking to stay up-to-date with the various resources and groups.
Financial Support is always appreciated, and can be made on our Support page.
