The Manson American Legion, Post 108 will hold a very special Memorial Day celebration this year as we not only will honor all those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country, we will also pay tribute to the men and women that served our country during the Vietnam Era.
The celebration begins at 11:00 on Monday – May 31 at the American Legion Park, across from the Manson Business Center in downtown Manson. Colors will be presented and Taps played by students from Manson High School. Members of Post 108 will make patriotic speeches prior to introduction of our guest speaker.
Post 108 Commander, Clyde McCullough says, “I’m pleased to announce that Congresswoman Kim Schrier will be our guest speaker.” Doctor Schrier represents Washington’s 8th Congressional District, which includes much of King, Pierce, Kittitas, and Chelan Counties, and portions of Douglas County.
After her speech Congresswoman Schrier will hand out a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin to all veterans in attendance that served our country during the Vietnam Era as a lasting memento of the Nation’s thanks.
Living U.S. veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive a lapel pin.
Please share this information with friends and family members that were part of the United States Armed Forces during this time period. We thank Congresswoman Schrier and the Department of Defense for making this award possible.
