Thursday, 10 Nov

Manson High School Veterans Day Breakfast – 8:30am @ 1000 Totem Pole Rd, Manson (Manson High School Student Center) – breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon and coffee prepared and served by students, free for veterans

Veterans Day Assembly – 1:30pm @ 309 Johnson Ave, Chelan (Lake Chelan School District Community Gym) – Hosted by Morgen Owens Elementary School to honor Veterans

Okanogan High School Veterans Day Assembly – 2:15pm @ 244 5th Ave S, Okanogan – featuring special guest speaker Arnie Marchand

** Editor’s Note: Most other area schools will have a similar Veterans Day assembly of some kind on Thursday – check with your local school district to find out how Veterans can be involved.

 

Friday, 11 Nov

Veterans Day Breakfast – 7 to 11am @ 31 W Coulee Blvd, Electric City – hosted by American Legion Post 157; by donation with funds going toward Post 157’s Scholarship Fund.

Breakfast at American Legion Post 10 – 8 to 10am @ 208 N Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee – Veterans eat free, others by donation; ever-popular Bloody Marys will be available for purchase at the bar.

Veterans Day Breakfast at American Legion Post 209 – 8 to 10am @ 538 W Broadway, Moses Lake

Veterans Day Service at Apple Springs Senior Retirement Center – 11am @ 1001 Senna St, Omak – Presented by American Legion Post 56

Ephrata Veterans Day Parade – 10:45am @ Grant County Courthouse, Ephrata – Hosted by American Legion Post 28. Route loops around to the WWII Memorial at the Ephrata Recreation Center for a salute at 11am, then returns to Vietnam Memorial at the Courthouse for another salute.

Manson Veterans Day Celebration – 11am @ American Legion Park, Manson – Hosted by American Legion Post 108. Flag raising, speeches, and performance by the Lake Chelan Patriotic Singers

Chelan Veterans Day Parade – 11am @ Woodin Ave, Chelan – Parade navigates through Downtown Chelan and includes various groups and organizations.

Veterans Lunch – approx. 11:30am (immediately following Wenatchee Parade) @ 1250 N Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee – Free pizza, chicken strips, and fries presented by and hosted at The Bunker.

Veterans Lunch – approx 11:30am (immediately following the Ephrata Parade) @ 276 8th Ave NW, Ephrata – hosted by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28, lunch is soup and sandwiches.

Community Lunch – approx. 11:30am (immediately following Chelan Parade) @ 232 E Wapato Way, Chelan – hosted by Chelan Fire & Rescue, lunch of hamburgers/hot dogs for veterans, active duty, and families; $5 donation request but not required – collected funds will be donated to Chelan VFW Post 6853.

Veterans Day Happy Hour – 4pm @ 1 Orondo Ave, Wenatchee – The Wenatchee Valley Vet Corps members have collaborated with local businesses to raise funds for The Bunker (Vets Serving Vets). Badger Mountain Brewing has created 2 specialty beers using hops grown at the local Veteran-owned Charlie Foxtrot Farm. Each purchase of either the Patriots Pale Ale or Armed Forces Amber comes with a ticket for the raffle (a variety of items donated from local businesses). Proceeds from the sale of these 2 beers will be donated to the Bunker. Raffle runs from 4 to 7pm, Live music from 6 to 9pm. No cover charge.

Saturday, 12 Nov

Chelan Veterans Stand Down – 8am to 1pm @ 427 S Bradley St, Chelan (VFW Post 6853) – hosted by Chelan VFW Post 6853, Manson American Legion Post 108, and the Marine Corps League. The Stand Down is designed to provide necessities and assistance for homeless veterans and those in need. Proof of service required to enter. Food, clothing, various resources, and more will be provided.

Filmmaker Reception and Documentary Premier – 4pm @ The Bavarian Lodge, 810 US-2, LeavenworthTickets ($15) available on Eventbrite – Presented by the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce. [Article in the Wenatchee World]

I Married the War is a documentary film giving voice to wives of combat veterans from World War II to the present-day Middle East wars. From every corner of our nation, women have waited and welcomed our warriors back from battle, only to discover that the conflict followed their husbands home.

Directed by Betty Rodgers and Ken Rodgers, the candid stories in this film bring to life the ways in which families are impacted and forever changed by the unique personal struggles, victories, and defeats experienced by our country’s veterans. Hear about sharing a marriage with a WWII Medal of Honor recipient, a Vietnam War corpsman, an Iraq War survivor.

Salute to Service Auction – 5:30pm @ 101 South F St, Quincy (Quincy Business & Event Center) – Hosted by Quncy Chamber of Commerce and Quincy Rotary Club. Benefiting Veterans Operation Creation. Both live and silent auctions, dinner, raffles, dessert dash, and entertainment. Tickets are $70.

Wenatchee Wild Military Appreciation Night – 6pm @ Town Toyota Center, Wenatchee – Sponsored by CMI Orchards – Air Force Veteran and Douglas County Veteran Service Officer Sarah Simonson will be singing both the American and Canadian National Anthems for the opening of the game. Arrive early for a free drawstring bag. Free Veterans+Family tickets have been distributed around the area – ask your local veterans organization if they have some left!

Spaghetti Dinner & Auction Scout Fundraiser – 6pm @ 314 14th Ave, Oroville (American Legion Post 84) – Oroville/Tonasket Scout Troop & Cub Pack invite you to join them for a Spaghetti Dinner and Auction. Proceeds go to the kids for memberships, events and amazing camping experiences.
