On Saturday, October 15 2022 the Manson American Legion performed a flag raising ceremony for the Lake Chelan Health’s new hospital.
State Representative Mike Steele opened the ceremonies by introducing American Legion Commander, Clyde McCullough. Commander McCullough presented a certificate to Hospital CEO Aaron Edwards that stated the flag used in today’s ceremony was flown over the United States Capital.
Vice Commander Brian Strausbaugh took the flag about 100 feet and handed it to Craig Pittson and Ed Holst. Craig and Ed walked the flag an additional 100 feet, arriving at the new flagpole. Ed Holst had the honor of raising the flag as members of the American Legion gave a hand salute.
Ed Holst’s wife, Karen had recently been a patient at Lake Chelan Hospital while she was battling cancer. She was able to return home just two days prior to her passing. Ed was so grateful for the care Karen received at the hospital he wanted to be the person to raise the flag.
The event ended with a ribbon cutting and a tour of the new facility.
Participating from the American Legion were Clyde McCullough, Brian Strausbaugh, Dana Starkweather, Craig Pittson, Ed Holst, Marie Cannon and Norm Manly.
