Chelan County Veteran Services Office undergoing renovationsIn an announcement released by Chelan County earlier this week, we learned that the current office for the Chelan County Veteran Service Officer is going to be getting some much-needed upgrades this winter. Starting tomorrow 08 Nov 2024, the office at 428 Orondo Avenue will be closed for renovations. We are being told construction should be complete by 01 April 2025. WDVA working with U.S. VA to prevent veteran suicide[News release from Washington Department of Veterans Affairs, 18 October 2024] Washington Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to prevent Veteran suicide in Washington state. Wenatchee Valley becomes a Purple Heart CommunityThe community and local veterans gathered on 7 August 2024 at Pybus Public Market to honor recipients of the Purple Heart, a distinguished military decoration awarded to individuals wounded or killed in combat. Veteran Cemetery Plots for SaleA generous donor has gifted 2 cemetery plots in the Veteran section of Evergreen Memorial Park (East Wenatchee) to VFW Post 3617. After careful consideration and deliberation, the Post has decided to sell these plots and use the funds for helping local veterans in need. Flag Raising at new Lake Chelan hospitalOn Saturday, October 15 2022 the Manson American Legion performed a flag raising ceremony for the Lake Chelan Health’s new hospital.
