Wenatchee Valley becomes a Purple Heart Community

The community and local veterans gathered on 7 August 2024 at Pybus Public Market to honor recipients of the Purple Heart, a distinguished military decoration awarded to individuals wounded or killed in combat. Highways in WA Renamed to Honor Veterans

While Oregon may have started the trend, Washington residents are just as committed to honoring and recognizing veterans by renaming some of the largest highways in the state. A generous donor has gifted 2 cemetery plots in the Veteran section of Evergreen Memorial Park (East Wenatchee) to VFW Post 3617. After careful consideration and deliberation, the Post has decided to sell these plots and use the funds for helping local veterans in need. Flag Raising at new Lake Chelan hospital

On Saturday, October 15 2022 the Manson American Legion performed a flag raising ceremony for the Lake Chelan Health’s new hospital. State Representative Mike Steele opened the ceremonies by introducing American Legion Commander, Clyde McCullough. Commander McCullough presented a certificate to Hospital CEO Aaron Edwards that stated the flag used in today’s ceremony was flown over the United States Capital.
